Personal Development
Personal Development at Sutton Park
At Sutton Park, we aim to support pupils in developing the skills, knowledge and attributes they need to thrive in all aspects of life. This stretches across academic, social and emotional well-being as well as using the British Values to support understanding of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance. This is done through a range of activities and projects throughout the year as well as trips, visitors and our tailored assemblies. We aim to foster confidence, resilience and a sense of responsibility within the children to help them with their future education, training, employment paths and place within society.
Pupils across the school, work towards REACH goals with weekly assemblies introducing a key focus for the week, followed by in class discussions to further understanding at an age-appropriate level. Awards are given during our Friday assembly for the children who have been working hard on the focus for that week. DOJOs are awarded to pupils for these five aspects and children work towards their own personal goal, building and saving their DOJOs where necessary for a variety of prizes: prize trolley, own clothes day, ice cream factory, McDonald’s lunch and even a trip to Monkey Bizness (to name just a few)!
