FS 1 – Home Learning

Information for parents

Topic: Down on the Farmthis topic will focus on farm animals and growing vegetables.

Maths: Recite numbers past 5, subitize, experiment with marks and numberals, compare quantities, measure, understand position through words and explore 2D and 3D shapes.
Reading: Share farm themed texts and songs based on animals and planting, learn new vocabulary and key concepts about print and articulate ideas and thoughts using connectives.
We will be taught phonics using Letters and Sounds.
Writing: Writing our name and developing pencil grip skill ready for initial letter formations and writing.  Carry out lots of fine and gross motor activities to support this area of learning.

Topic Ideas:

  • Research where milk comes from.
  • Read stories based on growing and farm life.

Understanding the world:

  • Think about seasonal changes and care for growing plants.
  • Look at life cycles and identify farm animals and their babies.
